About the organisation
This is an established Australian organisation with people, community and purpose at the heart of what it does. Its work has a very real human impact, helping people navigate important moments in their lives and creating better outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
There is a strong commercial operation behind the business, but its culture is grounded in something bigger. People matter. Relationships matter. How you show up matters. They are now looking for a Marketing Communications Manager who connects strongly with that purpose and can translate it into a clear, compelling brand and marketing strategy.
The role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll take ownership of marketing and communications across the organisation. This is a broad role spanning brand, marketing strategy, communications, campaigns, digital, content and storytelling. You’ll work closely with the CEO, senior leadership and sales team, with a Content Specialist reporting to you and additional videography and agency support available when required.
A big part of the opportunity is bringing greater structure and strategic thinking to marketing while retaining the authenticity and humanity of the organisation. You’ll shape how the brand shows up, sharpen the story it tells and build stronger connections with its audiences.
You’ll be responsible for:
Developing and delivering the overarching marketing and communications strategy
Owning brand positioning, messaging and tone of voice
Building integrated campaigns across digital, social, content and broader communications
Identifying and telling the human stories behind the organisation and its impact
Leading the content strategy and providing direction to the Content Specialist
Developing marketing initiatives that support broader organisational and commercial objectives
Working closely with senior leaders and internal stakeholders to understand priorities and turn them into effective marketing activity
Managing external agency and specialist partners where required
Bringing greater consistency, planning and measurement to the marketing function
Ensuring the organisation’s values and purpose are reflected authentically across every touchpoint
About you
We’re looking for an experienced marketing communications professional who is equally comfortable thinking strategically and getting close to the work. You’ll have strong experience across brand, communications, campaigns and content, with the ability to bring those disciplines together rather than operating in one narrow channel. But capability alone won’t make this the right role. You need to genuinely care about people.
You’ll be someone who is motivated by purpose, interested in the stories behind the work and excited by the opportunity to use marketing to make a positive difference. You’ll have empathy, emotional intelligence and the ability to build trusted relationships across very different groups of people.
You’ll ideally bring:
Strong experience in a senior marketing, brand or marketing communications role
Broad capability across brand, communications, content, digital and integrated campaigns
Excellent writing, messaging and storytelling skills
The ability to turn organisational strategy into clear marketing priorities
Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working directly with senior leadership
Experience leading or mentoring another marketer
Commercial thinking combined with a strong values orientation
Curiosity, initiative and the confidence to bring new ideas to the table
A collaborative, grounded and highly interpersonal working style
Most importantly, you’ll want to work somewhere where marketing has a genuine connection to purpose. You’ll care about the people behind the brand and want to use your skills to contribute to something meaningful.
The opportunity
This is an opportunity to take ownership of marketing within an organisation that already has a strong purpose, strong values and an important story to tell. You’ll have direct access to the CEO and leadership team, the support of a Content Specialist and external specialists when required, and the scope to shape how the marketing function develops from here. The role is based on Brisbane’s inner city fringe, with flexible working available.
