Product Lead - Digital

Brisbane City, Australia Hybrid Fixed-term contract

About Containers for Change

Container Exchange (COEX) is the not-for-profit organisation that runs Queensland’s Containers for Change scheme. With a purpose to create a better world through environmental, social and economic impact, COEX works to reduce container litter, increase recycling and create meaningful benefits for individuals, charities and community groups across Queensland. As the scheme continues to evolve, technology plays an increasingly important role in creating better experiences for customers, operators and industry partners.

The Role

COEX is looking for an experienced Product Lead – Digital to join its Customer, Product & Design team on an up to 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting directly to the General Manager Customer, Product & Design, you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of digital products and initiatives, working across the full product lifecycle from discovery and requirements through to delivery, launch and continuous improvement. There is a significant pipeline of work underway. A key focus is expected to be the delivery of a new digital claims and compliance portal for material recovery facilities, working closely with an external development partner. You’ll also take ownership of the ongoing evolution of Container Collect, COEX’s home collection service, managing its backlog and delivering continuous enhancements following the launch of its newly rebuilt platform.

Beyond this, there is broader work underway across COEX’s website, member portal and other digital platforms, creating plenty of opportunity to contribute to meaningful product development during the contract.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of digital products within your portfolio

  • Develop and manage product roadmaps, delivery plans, priorities and backlogs

  • Translate business and user needs into clear requirements and user stories

  • Work across discovery, design, development, testing, launch and ongoing optimisation

  • Manage external technology and development partners through delivery

  • Work closely with internal teams including Network Delivery, Recycling and Customer Experience

  • Identify delivery risks and proactively manage issues, dependencies and priorities

  • Lead product readiness, including documentation, communication, training and operational handover

  • Use data and performance measures to inform product decisions and continuous improvement

  • Contribute to broader digital product discovery and development as priorities evolve

About You

This is an opportunity to step into an established product environment with a substantial pipeline of digital work already underway. You’ll ideally bring 3–5 years’ experience as a Product Manager, Product Lead or Product Owner, with a strong background delivering digital products and technology platforms.

You understand the practical mechanics of product management: discovery, requirements, user stories, roadmaps, prioritisation, delivery and continuous improvement. Experience working with third-party developers or technology vendors will be particularly valuable.

Experience with operational technology or digital products across logistics, transport, delivery, marketplaces, claims or compliance environments would translate particularly well, although sector experience is not essential.

You’ll also bring:

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

  • Experience working cross-functionally across business and technology teams

  • Confidence managing multiple priorities, dependencies and delivery timelines

  • Strong analytical capability and comfort using data to inform decisions

  • Familiarity with Agile and product delivery methodologies

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and Miro would be advantageous

  • Product management or Scrum Product Owner certification would be highly regarded
