The first couple of months were slower than expected, with many businesses holding back on hiring amid uncertainty around the upcoming Australian and US elections.

So, what’s the mood now?

Things are definitely looking up. The Brisbane market feels steadier, with more consistent hiring activity across the board. After catching up with eight senior marketing leaders recently, the overall sentiment is cautiously optimistic. There’s a shared belief that the market will continue to improve…it’s just a matter of how quickly.

What about job activity right now?

SEEK has listed over 316 marketing roles in the last 30 days—129 of those in the past week alone. We’re also seeing strong engagement on our own job ads, particularly for specialist roles (averaging around 40 applicants) and more senior or creative positions like Heads of Marketing or Designers, which often attract 100+ applications.

A quick search for "marketing" roles on LinkedIn Jobs returned 259 results, another positive indicator compared to earlier this year. Of course, filtering by skills and seniority narrows that down, but the direction is encouraging.

Where do we find the right people?

At Gybe, most of the roles we place are filled through our existing network—people like you. The rest come from targeted advertising or proactive headhunting based on client requests.
